Welcome back to a new school year filled with promise, growth, and exciting opportunities! We are thrilled to have each and every one of you as part of our extended Knight’s family.
One area I want to touch on right away is changes to our cell phone policy. WCA aims to teach and practice healthy habits with technology in and out of school. Currently, we are moving forward with electronic device practices in our classrooms and large group spaces to support our students and their success. Please see the attached document that highlights the changes. We also have updated our eligibility policy. (Changes can be found here). Lastly, we have added language to the student handbook addressing pranks with the intent to prevent any situations in the future. Here is the link to this policy.
WCA Secondary will continue with Early Entrance Conferences for all students on September 3rd from 11:30 am to 7:00 pm, and on September 4th from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. During these conferences, students will receive their Chromebooks, padlocks, schedules, and other important grade-specific information. Please watch for an email link to schedule an appointment with your student’s advisor or homeroom teacher.
Each year, we receive multiple calls from families indicating they are not receiving updates and notices from the school. This often happens because our data in the student information system is out of date. It is crucial to attend Early Entrance Conferences to confirm all contact information we have on file.
The first full day of school will be Thursday, September 5th. School supply lists can be found on the WCA webpage at www.isd2342.org. School breakfast and lunch will again be free for all students this year.
As the principal of WCA Secondary, I am incredibly excited about the year ahead. Each new school year brings unique opportunities for our students to grow academically, socially, and personally.
